Focus Areas

  • Readiness to Learn
  • School Success
  • Youth Development

Our Goal

United Way of Western Maine (UWWM) supports community programs that help children and families thrive from early childhood through adolescence. We invest in initiatives that prepare young learners for school success, provide safe and welcoming spaces for youth, and connect young people with trusted mentors and positive role models.

This work is implemented through:

  • Early Childhood and Parenting Education Programs
  • Academic Support and Literacy Programs that strengthen learning and achievement
  • Afterschool, Summer, and Mentoring Programs that promote growth, confidence, and belonging

Outcomes

  • All children in Androscoggin, Franklin and Oxford Counties enter kindergarten prepared for success, supported by strong families and engaged communities that foster intellectual, social, emotional, and physical development
  • Youth and young adults are prepared for success in school, the community, and the workplace, with access to education, services, and opportunities that promote self-sufficiency, independence, and meaningful contributions to society
